Nine days since the disruption, the Central Railway (CR) is set to restore one more rail line on the crucial Mumbai-Pune ghat section by today (Wednesday). Railway officials are scheduled to operate a goods train trial on Tuesday night to assess the stability and safety of the restored tracks before resuming normal operations.
Route disrupted
The route was severely disrupted following multiple landslides and heavy monsoon damage that struck the Lonavala-Karjat ghat section on July 6, forcing widespread cancellations, diversions, and rescheduling of long-distance trains.
