A section of the roof and staircase of the Haji Kasam Building in Mumbai's Mahim area collapsed on Monday amid heavy rain. This building is owned by the Waqf Board.

Officials from the Mumbai Fire Brigade and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) rushed for the rescue operation following the incident.

Two siblings, Abdul Hamid (52) and Ghazia Khan (60), were trapped on the second floor of the building following the roof collapse. A swift operation was carried out by a team from Shivaji Park Fire Station and both the residents were safely rescued. They are currently living with their relative, Rashid Shah.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to officials, the building was already under the danger zone and had received notice for demolition by BMC prior to the incident.
