Shahin Irshad Khan, 26, who is already a mother of two children gave birth to her third child on Wednesday morning at Sion Hospital. But the baby is born with two heads, three hands but has two legs with one heart like any other new born. It is one of the rarest form of conjoined twins.

The couple belongs from Uttar Pradesh and lives in a chawal in Sion. They migrated to Mumbai 10 years back. They didn't know about the condition of the bady as no prenatal examination was done. On Wednesday, when the mother went into labour pain, she was rushed to Sion hospital. At around 11.30 am she gave birth to the child through C-section.
"The child is under observation. Departments like cardiology, neurology and pediatrics are conducting test on the child. So far, we have found out that the child has one heart. We won't be able to comment more about the surgery part until all investigations are completed. She is fine now and doing good," said Dr Paras Kothari, head of the department of pediatric, Sion Hospital.
The condition of the child is called dicephalic parapagus, an extremely rare form of twin conjoinment where they grow in a single body. The chances of survival in such cases are limited as both the twins share same vital organs together that affects their health and growth in future.
When mid-day spoke to the father of the child, who is a cobbler by profession, he said, "Before this, my wife has given birth to two healthy daughters."
Last month, a similar case of a conjoined twins was reported from Latur. On June 20, the child died on the way to Mumbai. The child was referred to Sion Hospital for a surgery.
