Mumbai records fewer than 2,000 Covid-19 cases once again

State sees a rise in the number of Covid-19 deaths with 793 reported on Tuesday

As Mumbai continues its streak of recording a dip in daily Covid-19 cases, it saw less than 2,000 fresh infections again on Tuesday. With 1,717 new cases, the city currently has a doubling rate of 170 days. It was on March 14 when the city recorded 1,963 cases, post which the numbers started to increase.

However, there was a slight increase in the number of fresh cases in the state on Tuesday. Maharashtra saw 40,956 new infections in the last 24 hours, pushing its tally to 51,79,929. Meanwhile, 793 people succumbed to the viral infection on Tuesday, taking the state’s death toll to 77,191.
