Mumbai records highest vaccination on Monday

As the BMC has opened walk-in registration even for the 18-44 years age group, the civic-run centres alone inoculated 88,840 beneficiaries in a day, while the private centres across 62 hospitals administered 85,621 doses.

At more than 1.8 lakh, Mumbai registered the highest number of vaccines administered on Monday. Across public and private vaccination centres, a total of 1,80,821 beneficiaries were given the anti-Coronavirus shot throughout the day.


As the BMC has opened walk-in registration even for the 18-44 years age group, the civic-run centres alone inoculated 88,840 beneficiaries in a day, while the private centres across 62 hospitals administered 85,621 doses. 


The BMC had allowed citizens aged 45 years and above to visit their nearest public vaccination centre without any prior appointment from Monday to Wednesday, it permitted beneficiaries in the 18 to 44 years age group as well. Better late than never, said citizens aged between 18 and 44 years, who had been struggling to book a slot online at private hospitals.  


Meanwhile, on Monday the city's total vaccination figure rose above 52 lakh. Among those vaccinated yesterday were 13,417 senior citizens, 47,371 people aged 45-59 years and 1,18,334 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group.
