Mumbai: Rs 12 lakh fine collected from card players in local trains

The Central and Western Railways have arrested 1,035 people for singing ‘qawwali’, ‘bhajans’ and for playing cards in suburban trains in the last 5 years and collected over Rs 12 lakh from them in fines, an RTI query has revealed
The Central and Western Railways have arrested 1,035 people for singing ‘qawwali’, ‘bhajans’ and for playing cards in suburban trains in the last 5 years and collected over Rs 12 lakh from them in fines, an RTI query has revealed.

Mansoor Darvesh had filed a query with the Central and Western Railways, seeking to know the total number of persons arrested for singing and playing cards in local trains in the period January 1, 2011 to May 30, 2016. He also sought to know the amount collected from them in fines.
