Motorists using the recently opened arm of the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover towards Relief Road have raised concerns over the “extremely smooth” surface of the tar road, claiming that two-wheelers are skidding and riders are falling. Regular commuters have appealed to the authorities to make the top layer of the road slightly rougher to improve grip and prevent two-wheelers from skidding.

The new arm

The 750-metre, four-lane arm of the Mrinaltai Gore Flyover, built at a cost of Rs 248 crore, was opened to motorists on June 6 after being delayed for almost six years. The new arm connects the existing flyover network to Ram Mandir Road and Relief Road in Goregaon West. However, the stretch soon began drawing complaints from motorists, who flagged the uneven road surface, loose grit and patchy stretches.
