Another peaceful protest planned by student unions from the city was thwarted outside Dadar station on Saturday. However, this has not deterred the students’ resolve, and they will keep holding such protests.
Students from several campus organisations, like the All India Students Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Progressive Students’ Forum (PSF) had organised the protest. However, they were informed by cops they were not allowed to gather at the place. Following this, the students went to the Matunga police station, and asked cops why they were not being allowed to gather. This later led to a clash between the students and the cops. Ranjini Basu, from PSF said, “Whatever happened on Saturday was a violation of our democratic right to hold a peaceful protest. But this is not going to stop us. In fact our protest has increased manifold after witnessing such pressure tactics.”
