The Kherwadi police are searching three men who pretended to be CBI officers and robbed four men. The incident took place when the four men were traveling to the airport to take a flight to Abu Dabi on Tuesday night.

The victims were threatened, kidnapped and taken to Goregaon East from Kherwadi on Western Expressway where they robbed cash including Indian and foreign currencies, goods, and valuables of the victim's worth Rs 6.28 lakh. The victims also missed their flight.

As their taxi stopped, one of the occupants of the car got off. As he approached the taxi, Sayyed noticed him wearing Khaki pants and carrying a stick that police usually use.

The man introduced himself as a police officer and started an inquiry with the victims. He asked the victims where they were headed to which Sayyed replied saying that they have a flight to Abu Dabi and were going to the international airport, said an officer.

As per the statement given to the police, Sayyed said, the accused started beating me without asking anything and snatched my mobile phone as well as took my companions out of the taxi and took all of our belongings. They searched the bag and took all the cash and valuables in their possession. He started threatening to take us to the police station seized our passports and also threatened to send us to jail for six months.

They forcibly made us sit in the car and the driver took the car in direction of Dahisar. He filled petrol in Andheri and later took us to Goregaon East near NESCO ground, the victim told police.

After getting out of the car, the accused gave back the passports to the victims, took photos of everyone, and left the victims on the road. The accused went in the direction of Dahisar with all the victims' belongings and valuables at about 11:10 pm, the officer added.

Victims who missed their flight approached the nearest Vanrai police station from where they were asked to go to Kherwadi police station to lodge a complaint, said another officer.

"We have registered the FIR under sections, 170, 34, 363, 392, and 420 of IPC against the unidentified men and are scanning the CCTVs of the road to find out their identities," a police officer said.

Some progress has been achieved during the investigation. There are some dots that are being worked on and the accused will soon be in the custody of the police, he added.
