The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) will be inaugurated on Friday, January 12. MTHL is the longest sea bridge in the country, originates from Sewri in Mumbai and terminates at Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka of Raigad district in Maharashtra. PM Modi to inaugurate MTHL

At around 3:30 pm on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and travel on Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri - Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, MTHL. In Navi Mumbai, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects.
MTHL is also known as Atal Setu
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as Atal Setu named after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, an official Chief Minister's Office (CMO) statement has said.
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link is constructed at a cost of around Rs 18,000 crore. The MTHL is a 6-lane sea link, with 16.50 kilometres of the stretch on the sea and 5.5 km on land.
MTHL will bring more development to Navi Mumbai and adjoining areas
Ahead of its inauguration, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said that the MTHL will usher in speedy progress of region and will bring more development to Navi Mumbai and adjoining areas. CM Shinde had on Saturday inspected the longest sea bridge of the country.
MTHL will save travel time
The MTHL, once open for public, would help cover the distance between the two cities-- Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in just 20 minutes which otherwise takes 2 hours, CM Shinde had earlier said.
As this bridge will connect Mumbai with the Mumbai-Goa Highway, Vasai and Virar, Navi Mumbai, and Raigad districts, various new projects and big companies would come to Navi Mumbai, ushering in development in the entire region, he had said on Saturday.
Completed without any environmental imbalance
CM Shinde has said the project has been completed without any environmental imbalance and the number of flamingo birds visiting the Sewri coast has risen.
He said 500 skill development centres have been started to provide employment to youth and various other welfare decisions are also being taken by the state government.
A traffic command centre has been set up near Chirle toll plaza on the outskirts of Navi Mumbai. CM Shinde had also reviewed traffic management and control systems along with CCTV mechanisms on Saturday.
Cops set speed limit to 100 kmph
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police on Wednesday issued the details on speed limit on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), officially named the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, which is scheduled to be inaugurated on January 12.
In an official notification, the Mumbai Police said that the maximum speed limit for four-wheelers on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link will be 100 kmph.
According to the police, cars, taxis, light motor vehicles (LMVs), minibuses and two-axle buses will have a speed limit of 100 kilometres per hour. The speed will be restricted to 40 kmph on the ascend and descend of the bridge.
Multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks and buses heading towards Mumbai will not have an entry on the Eastern Freeway, the notification said.
These vehicles will have to use the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and take the MBPT Road near 'Gadiadda' for further movement, it said.
No motorbikes, auto rickshaws
Vehicles such motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn vehicles and slow-moving vehicles would be restricted on the MTHL, an official police notification said.
Rs 250 as toll amount for vehicles using on MTHL
The Maharashtra cabinet had last week cleared a proposal to charge Rs 250 as toll amount for cars for using the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL).
