Mumbai University's degree college students can now opt for competitive exam training through open electives

Students pursuing degree studies in colleges affiliated to Mumbai University will now be able to take lessons for competitive examinations. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between Mumbai University and the Thane Municipal Corporation-run Chintamanrao Deshmukh Administrative Training Institute to help degree students prepare for key competitive examinations, including the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC).

The agreement was signed in the presence of MU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ravindra Kulkarni, and Thane Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saurabh Rao.


According to this agreement, the syllabus for various competitive examinations will be made available to students pursuing degree studies in colleges affiliated to MU at the college level in the form of open elective subjects (two credits) in the first year, second year and third year of the degree course.



These open elective subjects – Introduction to Indian History and Geography, Indian Political Science and Economics, General Science, Environmental Science and Technology, Ethics, Integrity and Personality Development – have been prepared under the guidance of experts. Students appearing for these open elective subjects will get 2 credits per semester and will be provided with information and guidance on the overall level of the competitive examination, the methodology of preparing the competitive examination syllabus, developing all the personality skills required to succeed in the examination, developing effective writing skills and effective communication skills, among other skill sets.

These open electives, which will be made available to students online, will be regulated by Chintamanrao Deshmukh Administrative Training Institute.
