Mumbai: Upscale Altamount Road building sealed after Covid-19 cases found

Prithvi Apartments on Altamount Road that is home to many businessmen and celebrities, including actor Suniel Shetty, has been sealed after six Covid-19 cases were found there. Sources in the BMC said nobody from the actor’s house has the disease. As per the norms, any building with five or more active cases is sealed by the civic corporation and treated as a micro-containment zone. There are currently 68 such structures across the city.

“There are six positive cases in A wing [of Prithvi Apartments] and as per protocol, the civic body seals buildings with more than five cases. The buildings will be opened after 14 days if the cases come down,” said Prashant Gaikwad, assistant commissioner of D ward that comprises Malabar Hill, Peddar Road, and Tardeo. The D ward has total nine sealed residential buildings. Gaikwad said there isn’t any confirmed case of the Delta variant and people need not panic.
