Mumbai gets relief from heat as temperatures drop by over 6 degrees Celsius

Mumbai witnessed relief from extreme heat on Wednesday as temperatures dropped by more than 6 degrees Celsius from the previous day. However, humidity levels rose sharply, making the weather hot and humid. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and nearby districts for isolated hot and humid conditions

A respite from extreme heat was observed on Wednesday as the temperatures in the city dropped by over 6°C. Meanwhile, humidity also increased, turning the weather from hot and relatively dry to hot and humid.

On Wednesday, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded maximum temperatures of 34.5°C, with relative humidity at 70 per cent, in comparison to Tuesday’s figures of 32 per cent, while the Colaba observatory on Wednesday recorded temperatures of 34°C with humidity at 80 per cent.

On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an orange alert for Mumbai with temperatures rising to 40°C. The IMD on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts, indicating hot and humid weather in isolated pockets. A green alert has been issued for Thursday and Friday for Mumbai and the surrounding districts.
