A 53-year-old woman from Goregaon has been booked, on Saturday, for taunting and slut-shaming her 36-year-old neighbour.
As per a <a href="https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/mumbai/woman-insults-modesty-of-neighbour-booked/articleshow/80457050.cms" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Times of India</a> report, the accused called the complainant names and humiliated her for her looks, choice of clothing, hair-style etc.
&ldquo;My client was subjected to gross harassment at the instance of her neighbour, a woman, by uttering words and exhibiting gestures of extremely derogatory nature that would amount to outraging and tarnishing modesty of any woman only because she&rsquo;s a single woman living as a tenant independently and has a &lsquo;bob cut&rsquo;. The matter is currently under investigation,&rdquo; the victim&rsquo;s lawyer Siddhesh Borkar said.
The complainant who has moved into the apartment complex in December 2020 mentioned in her statement that she had had a falling out with the accused due to which she started taunting her. The complainant initially availed tiffin service from the accused, which she later discontinued because she was unsatisfied with the food. ON another occasion she had a confrontation with the accused after she played loud music until the wee hours of morning.
While the complainant had discontinued all interactions with her, the accused kept calling her names, insulting and slut-shaming her.
The complainant only reached out to the police after the matter escalated when one day the accused stood outside her house and called her names like &ldquo;prostitute&rdquo; and &ldquo;slut,&rdquo; questioned her gender and also abused her parents.
&nbsp;An FIR was registered against the accused woman, on Saturday under IPC sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 500 (defamation).
