Mumbai: Woman guzzles beer, abuses, threatens cops inside police station

Dealing with hardened criminals may be all in a dayrsquos work for the Mumbai Police but hand them a drunk 25yearold woman brazenly guzzling beer and abusing and threatening cops inside a police station and she can leave a roomful of police officials stumpedmidday has copies of two of the videos recorded by the police officers and she can be seen drinking from the beer bottle in both In one of them she can be heard saying ldquoOye Madam Ji Sunita Yadav Haryana ki hoon mainrdquo Madam my name is Sunita Yadav Irsquom from Haryana before going on to threaten the cops of action being taken against them because she had contacts in the right placesThatrsquos exactly what happened on September 17 when an inebriated Sunita Yadav was brought to the MIDC police station around 3 am for creating a ruckus outside a restaurant Little did the cops know that Yadav had just gotten started however and over the course of the next few hours they found themselves at the receiving end of a barrage of abuse and threats and other drunken antics all while she kept sipping from a beer bottle right inside the police stationAlternating between this threatening posture and bouts of sobbing Yadav kept the officials confused and unsure of how to act against her The clincher She walked out of the police station in the morning with just a Rs 1200 fine after apologising profusely to the officials and even falling at their feet Watch video below lsquoHaryana ki hoon mainrsquoAccording to Assistant Police Inspector Tanaji Telvekar of MIDC police station the drama played out in the wee hours of September 17 ldquoI was the night incharge that day There was some problem in a restaurant in our jurisdictionWe went there and sorted it out We were leaving when around 230 am a woman alighted from a taxi and began to create a ruckus when she was not allowed to enter the restaurant because she was too drunk She was abusing people and even broke an empty beer bottle in angerFollowing a complaint we brought her and her male friend to MIDC police station and I went for patrollingrdquo According to officials who were in the police station that night the woman could not even stand properly but brought a beer bottle with her to the police station She kept sipping the beer despite being asked not to and began making fun of the police officialsUnsure of what to do since they were dealing with a woman and because she was too drunk to listen to anything they said the cops on duty started recording videos of her midday has copies of two of the videos in one of which she can be heard saying ldquoOye Madam Ji Sunita YadavHaryana ki hoon mainrdquo Madam my name is Sunita Yadav Irsquom from Haryana before going on to threaten the cops of action being taken against them because she had contacts in the right places The 25yearold can even be seen asking a police official to shut up and let her talkStupefiedAn official who was in the police station that day said ldquoInitially she made fun of cops and then threatened us saying she was from Haryana and that we should wait till morning to see what would become of us Later she started crying and claimed she was an orphanShe was saying a lot of things in her drunken state Female police officials tried to calm her down but to no avail Hence we decided to keep her in the police station till morning to let her sober downrdquo Another officer said ldquoShe was threatening us and claimed to have good contacts while sipping beer in a police station It was bizarre That was the first time I saw something like thatrdquoApologyA police officer said that Yadav sobered down and came to her senses around 7 am She apologised profusely and even fell at the feet of some of the officers The cops could have registered an FIR but they decided to fine her and left her with a warningAPI Telvekar said ldquoShe was constantly changing her statements Initially she said she was into modelling A few hours later she claimed she is from the media She could give proper replies only by morning but she could not reveal much about what she did for a livingrdquoConfirming the incident Senior Inspector Rajaram Mandge of MIDC police station said ldquoWe charged her and her friend under Section 112 Misbehaviour with intent to provoke a breach of the peace of the Bombay Police Act and fined them Rs 1200rdquo
