In the wake of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad, Western Railway (WR) mobilised the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and medical teams to extend all possible support for the ongoing rescue and relief operations. Medical teams from the railway hospital in Sabarmati, including doctors, paramedical staff, were present with ambulances at the crash site.  

The RPF team collaborated with sister agencies Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence, the army, Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), to facilitate rescue operations.


“Six doctors and 20 staff members, along with seven ambulances, were immediately dispatched from the Divisional Railway Hospital at Sabarmati, Sabarmati Workshop, Vatva, and Ahmedabad, ensuring timely medical assistance,” a spokesperson said.



“Western Railway’s RPF Disaster Management Team and hospital staff are working shoulder to shoulder with sister agencies, offering support and compassion during this difficult time. The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway remains fully prepared to provide further assistance as needed, standing united in this hour of grief,” said the spokesperson.

“Additionally, Western Railway will operate extra trains from Ahmedabad based on demand. As of now, one train for Mumbai and one for Delhi are being planned. WR is extending full support to the state government, including readiness to run more special trains and assist with coordinated relief operations,” he added.
