On Friday afternoon, the Azad Maidan police arrested Sadanand Lad, a 23-year-old resident of Bhayendar, for making crank calls to cops.
Last month, Lad called up the main police control number over three consecutive days between 12 am and 1 am and abused the person on the other end.

If a woman constable came on the telephone line, he would pass obscene comments.
A cop from the Azad Maidan police station said, &ldquo;We traced his number, went to his house and arrested him. Lad denied everything though the number that he had called from was registered in his mother&rsquo;s name.&rdquo;
A complaint was registered at Azad Maidan police station under Sections 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 503 (Criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Lad was produced in Killa Court and was granted bail.
