Electricity supply in several parts of Mumbai's Andheri West, Bandra West, Khar West, Juhu, Goregaon West, Malad West, and Kandivali West in western suburbs, was disrupted on Monday evening, leaving residents without power for nearly an hour. Internet services in the affected areas were also reportedly down.
Dhaval Shah, president of the Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association (LOCA), said, “The electricity went off around 7.20–7.30 pm, affecting the entire Lokhandwala area in Andheri West. The electricity supply has been restored in some buildings now. The supply company had assured that service would resume by 8.30 pm, but the cause of the outage was not specified.”
SVP Nagar resident Sudhakar Ahire added, “I was told by the power supply company that the power supply has been disrupted in parts of Mumbai’s western suburbs due to some technical issue. They have begun work on a war footing to resolve the problem and restore electricity at the earliest.”
Versova resident Hitendra Pachkale said, “There has been no electricity supply in my area since 7.30 pm. Seven Bungalows has also been affected. Residents contacted the power supply company, which assured us that electricity would be restored by 8.30 pm.”
Residents in Goregaon reported a similar situation, with power and internet services down.
Reacting to the outage, Varsha Gaikwad said, “This is a rare occurrence in Mumbai. I hope a proper investigation is undertaken to determine the cause so it doesn’t recur. I also hope alternate sources of power have been provided by the administration to emergency services like hospitals.”

Meanwhile, Adani Electricity said the disruption was caused by a rare technical failure that triggered network protection systems. In a statement, the power distributor said restoration work began immediately, with around 50 per cent of supply restored within 30 minutes and nearly 90 per cent within an hour.
The company said it regretted the inconvenience caused and thanked consumers for their patience.
In a post on social media platform X, Adani Electricity wrote, "There is currently a power outage in the western parts of Mumbai due to a tripping issue. Our team is actively working to resolve the problem and restore the power supply as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and support during this time."
