Mumbai’s Covid-19 cases jump to 602

Worrying upward trend of past few days continues; MMR clocks 821 cases

From 336 to 490 to 602 daily cases: this has been the course of Covid in Mumbai for three consecutive days, ringing alarm bells. On Thursday, the city’s test positivity rate jumped to 1.52 per cent. Covid claimed one life in the city on Thursday. The state’s Omicron count stood at 88.

As per the BMC, the person who died of Covid on Thursday had comorbidities and was above the age of 60.  The state saw a marginal drop in new cases but a rise in Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department, 1,179 fresh cases were reported along with 17 deaths across Maharashtra.
