A day after he committed suicide, actor Sandeep Nahar’s father registered an abetment of suicide case at Goregaon police station against Sandeep’s wife Kanchan Sharma and her mother, Vinu Sharma on Tuesday night.

Sandeep’s father Vijaykumar alleged that Kanchan and Vinu used to torture Sandeep. He had been depressed and wanted to live but was driven to commit suicide by the duo’s harassment.

Sandeep’s remains were taken to his village, Kalka, where last rites were performed around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.

Sources said that Sandeep’s father asked Kanchan and Vinu to attend the funeral but they refused to go.

One of Sandeep’s friends said, “Kanchan was told by someone that if she goes for the funeral, she would be beaten up. Also, although the house was jointly rented by Kanchan and Sandeep, she did not let his father and brother stay there when they heard of the death and came to the city.”

“On the complaint of the father of the deceased, we have registered a case against Kanchan Sharma and Vinu Sharma under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. No arrests have been made so far,” an officer from Goregaon police said.
