While Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has already made his intentions clear by targeting him recently, the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has devoted 13 pages of a recently released 19-page booklet to criticising the PM.
The BJP will also seek to come to power riding on the Modi wave with the campaign slogan: &lsquo;Chhatrapatinche aashirwad, chale chalo Modi ke saath&rsquo; (With the blessings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, lets move ahead with Modi).
To counter the advertisement blitzkrieg launched by the Congress-led Democratic Front government, whose bill is said to have exceeded Rs 500 crore, the BJP has decided to launch its own advertisement campaign in a few days. Confirming this, state BJP chief Devendra Fadnavis said his party would appeal to voters to help Maharashtra be in tune with the Modi-led NDA government to help the state progress.
Criticising the MPCC&rsquo;s booklet, Fadnavis said, &ldquo;They have devoted 13 pages to Modi and only six to the Congress&rsquo; achievements. The party needs training on how to publish campaign material.&rdquo; Confirming that the campaign would have Modi as the central figure and that the BJP would seek votes in his name, a BJP office bearer said, &ldquo;The advertising campaign, to be released soon, will focus on Modi.
We want to convey that the Modi-led government at the Centre promises better governance and, here in Maharashtra, we will follow in his footsteps and urge the Centre to help the state tide over various problems.&rdquo;
He added that the campaign was devised by noted ad man Piyush Pandey, whose concepts were used by the BJP during the Lok Sabha polls as well, and that party leader Vinod Tawde had been asked to coordinate with Pandey for the campaign. &ldquo;Tawde had answered more than 350 questions related to the campaign that were raised by Pandey,&rdquo; said the BJP leader.
CM&rsquo;s attack Addressing the media recently, CM Chavan had launched a broadside against Modi over the power crisis and his government&rsquo;s failure to bring back black money from foreign banks. &ldquo;The NDA had promised to bring back the unaccounted money within 100 days of coming to power, but it failed to bring even Rs 100 back within the period,&rdquo; he said.
