In two separate late-night accidents on Friday at Palm Beach Road, four youths were injured — two of them in critical condition — after their two-wheelers crashed within minutes of each other near the Wadhwa Building in Nerul.

The first mishap occurred around 12.38 am, when Vishal Sanjay Suryavanshi, 28, a resident of Sector 20, Nerul West, was riding his Honda Activa towards CBD.  According to police, Vishal lost control and crashed into a water pipeline installed along the roadside. The impact was severe enough to render him unconscious on the spot.

He was immediately rushed to Apollo Hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.  Within minutes, another high-speed crash took place a few metres ahead amid heavy traffic. Motorcyclist Sanket Rausaheb Garje, 25, along with pillion rider Yash Sunil Wanjari, 23, and Pranav Jitendra Gadhave, 23,  rammed into a car parked on the roadside.

All three are final-year BAMS students at DY Patil School of Ayurveda in Nerul. The collision left rider Garje with multiple fractures on his left leg and arm, while the others sustained minor injuries. The trio was taken to DY Patil Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. An officer from Nerul police said, “Both accidents appear to have been caused by speeding and lack of attention on the part of the riders.”
