Maharashtra is all set for a motorsport milestone as Navi Mumbai prepares to host the state’s first-ever nighttime Formula street race. The announcement came after Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. (RPPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The grand finale of the Indian Racing Festival (IRF) is scheduled for December 2025, featuring a 3.753 km FIA-grade street circuit in Navi Mumbai with 14 challenging turns. For the first time, the city’s streets will transform into a floodlit high-speed racing arena, marking Mumbai’s debut on the global street racing map.

Top Indian and international drivers will compete in a thrilling nighttime double-header, featuring the Indian Racing League (IRL) and the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC). The circuit, starting at Palm Beach Road and winding past Nerul Lake, promises precision, speed, and adrenaline-fuelled action under the city lights.

Welcoming the festival, CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “We are proud to bring the Indian Racing Festival to Navi Mumbai. The Mumbai Street Race marks a historic milestone in Maharashtra's motorsport journey, showcasing our capability to host world-class events that drive tourism and generate jobs. This event will not only inspire young racers but also motivate young talent across fields such as engineering, technology, and event management. I commend the efforts of RPPL and all government departments collaborating to deliver an event that meets the highest international standards. This race is a vital part of Maharashtra’s vision to emerge as a leading destination for global sporting and cultural spectacles.”

Furthermore, RPPL Chairman Akhilesh Reddy added, “With Navi Mumbai as the backdrop, this night race will set a new benchmark for motorsport in India, combining high-speed action with the city’s iconic skyline.”

Celebrity team owners like John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Sourav Ganguly, Sudeep Kichcha, Naga Chaitanya, and Dr Swetha Sundeep Anand will add glamour to the high-octane event. Following successful street races in Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, and Goa, Mumbai’s edition promises to elevate India’s racing heritage to new heights.

The Indian Racing Festival has already brought street circuit weekends to Hyderabad and Chennai in previous seasons. The 2025 season started off with a round in Coimbatore and Chennai each; the 3rd and 4th rounds are scheduled in Coimbatore and the Goa Street Circuit, respectively. This December, Navi Mumbai will roar to life with engines, lights, and the thrill of world-class motorsport.
