Navratri mandals in Mumbai issued notices for playing songs illegally

Novex communications, which holds music rights for Yash Raj Films, Shemaroo, UTV and Zee music, sent notices to famous mandals for breaching the Indian Copyright Act
In what could spell trouble for some of the renowned Navratri mandals in the city, Novex communications has issued notices warning them of legal repercussions for using Bollywood songs without seeking licences.
The firm, currently, holds music rights for Yash Raj Films, Shemaroo, UTV and Zee music. Members of the vigilance department from Novex recorded songs of the above-mentioned companies, which they claimed were played by various Navratri mandals on Friday and Saturday.
