The much-awaited <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/neet-ug-2026-results-11-21-lakh-candidates-qualify-women-dominate-merit-list-23640212" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">NEET-UG 2026 results</a> were declared on July 17, with 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying the national medical entrance test. While students said the re-NEET paper was tougher than expected, many felt it improved their ranks by reducing the competition.
<h2>Mumbai score</h2>
Bandra's Raushmit Gupta secured All India Rank (AIR) 34 with 700 marks. Gupta said his score dropped by five marks compared to his first NEET attempt.

&ldquo;The re-NEET was a paper we never anticipated. The physics and chemistry sections were unprecedentedly lengthy. I aimed to score nothing below 720, but I am happy with my current score too, with AIIMS Delhi as my goal,&rdquo; he told mid-day.
<h2>Topper says</h2>
Shravani Krishna Kudale&nbsp; &lsquo;I want to serve the country through the medical profession.&rdquo; Sharing a message for aspirants, she added, &ldquo;If you have a clear goal and remain consistent in your hard work, you can achieve success in competitive exams like NEET even while studying in a rural area.&rsquo;
<h2>Parents react</h2>
Rahul Rajgrahia&nbsp; &lsquo;This year, the paper was quite lengthy, with physics and chemistry sections apparently having questions beyond the NCERT. My child scored 605, while she expected more. We are now looking ahead to admissions and understanding the Maharashtra cutoff.&rsquo;
<h2>State topper</h2>
Shravani Krishna Kudale, a student from Khadki village in Daund taluka of Pune district, emerged as <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/neet-ug-2026-topper-list-air-rankings-and-cut-offs-released-check-details-23640241" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Maharashtra&rsquo;s topper</a>, securing AIR 5 with an outstanding 99.999965 percentile. She is also the highest-ranked girl in the country, making her achievement a matter of pride for the state.

Shravani studied at Zilla Parishad Primary School in Chormale Vasti, Gopalwadi, from Std I to V before completing her secondary education at Sharadabai Pawar Vidyaniketan College in Malegaon. Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and MLA Rohit Pawar congratulated Shravani on her achievement.
