The Jet Airways management had the last laugh yesterday, as they managed to clip the wings of the pilots' union the National Aviators Guild (NAG).

A Jet Airways official said, "NAG will exist, but will not be given any power to take decisions."
All decisions regarding pilots will be taken by Society for Welfare of Indian Pilots, an existing labour welfare organisation.

Another body
The management has also decided that a consultative body will be put in place which will have at least two directors from the Jet board, the CEO, and two representatives from Flight Operations on one side and five representative of the pilots on the other.

All issues concerning the pilots will be discussed and resolved through this mechanism.
One hundred Jet Airways pilots reported to work yesterday and another 400 are expected to join back today, after the management and pilots' union managed to reach a consensus over the weekend.
At the press conference yesterday, NAG president Girish Kaushik said, "We are happy with the agreement."
Saroj K Dutta, executive director, Jet Airways was confident that the airline would not require a union body. "The management and pilots will work together," said Dutta.u00a0

To make up for the inconvenience caused to passengers over the past five days, Jet Airways and Jet Airways Konnect will offer a promotional fare with up to 50 per cent discount on their total fare in economy class for domestic flights.

Sale of these special fares will be between September 14 and 16. Travel needs to be completed by September 18.
