White a little over 6,000 COVID cases and 75 deaths, November recorded the lowest figures since the beginning of the pandemic last year. In October, the city had 12,285 cases, almost double of what they were in November (6,185), which had an average of 238 cases daily. On some days the number even fell below 200. However, in view of the emergence of the new variant of the virus, it will be crucial for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to increase the number of tests.  

Until now, August had the lowest number of cases and deaths at 8,549 and 118 respectively. As the state government opened up the city in phases, since mid-August the cases started to increase. After a slight surge in September and October, the infection rate went down in November.
