Number of fresh Covid-19 cases in Mumbai steady again

State also sees a little over 14,000 cases with over 20,000 patients recovered and discharged

The city witnessed a sharp decline in Covid-19 cases from over 11,000 daily cases to around 1,500 cases in a month and half. Now the number of Covid-19 infections has been steady in the city for the past few days. On Friday, Mumbai recorded 973 cases and 24 deaths. The state has a little over 14,000 cases, mostly from Pune and Kolhapur. It registered 289 deaths on Friday. 

The city started recording a high number of cases in mid-February. The number rose sharply in March and reached the highest tally on April 4 at 11,131, after which there was a sharp decline and the cases came down to 1,500 around mid-May. As per the report of the BMC, 27,351 tests were conducted and 973 positive cases found with a test positivity rate of 3.5 per cent on Friday. The TPR went above 20 per cent in the first week of April.
