Education department holds special round for those left out, over 10k students still left

A special round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions concluded on Tuesday and gave seats to over 21,000 candidates. However, 10,533 students are still without a seat, even after five rounds of admissions.
Those given seats in the latest round have to confirm their admissions by January 8, after which further admission process and that related to ATKT will be declared.

On Tuesday, of the 32,368 applicants, 21,835 were allotted seats. In the special round, total available seats were 1,07,312. What comes as a relief is that over 80,000 seats remain available.
FYJC admissions have been among the most delayed this year - first due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later because of confusion over Maratha reservation.
"In this special round, 10,058 candidates were allotted seats on their first preferred choice and 207 aspirants received their tenth preference. It is important to see how many of those allotted seats confirm their admission. We will take further action accordingly," said an official from the office of Deputy Director of Education, Mumbai.
Even as admissions continue, many city colleges have begun online classes as those with over 80 per cent confirmed admissions are allowed to begin. Also, the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been taking YouTube tutorials for FYJC students. Lakhs of students have been benefitting from this.
