What began as a weekend outing ended in an unimaginable tragedy after two young men were swept away by the powerful currents of an overflowing stream near Gadeshwar Dam in Panvel on Sunday. The heart-wrenching incident, triggered by heavy rainfall in the Matheran hills, was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, leaving viewers shaken.

According to preliminary information, the two youths had visited the scenic Gadeshwar Dam area and entered a stream to swim, unaware of the sudden surge in water levels caused by incessant rain upstream. Within moments, the calm stream turned into a raging torrent, giving the duo little time to react.
