A parked passenger coach of domestic carrier IndiGo caught fire at the Mumbai International Airport on Tuesday, the airline said, adding that no one was injured in the incident, reported the PTI.

"One of our coaches caught fire while it was inactive for a few hours and parked at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai on August 19. The fire was immediately extinguished," the airline said in a statement, according to the PTI.


It was a minor fire, IndiGo spokesperson said, adding it was investigating the incident to ascertain the cause, the news agency reported on Tuesday.



Mumbai rain disrupts flight operations; 11 go-arounds, 7 diversions reported

Meanwhile, as Mumbai on Tuesday continued to witness heavy rainfall for the fourth consecutive day, disrupting normal life, the flight operations at Mumbai airport were also reportedly affected.

According to information received by mid-day.com, the Mumbai airport reported around 11 go-arounds since early Tuesday morning, three of which were repeated due to low visibility at the airport.

The airport recorded as many as seven diversions, sources said.

The airlines issued advisories to inform passengers about the potential delays.

An Indigo statement on X read, “Persistent rainfall and thunderstorms are affecting Mumbai, causing possible flight delays. Our teams are closely monitoring the situation to resume operations as soon as conditions improve. Travellers are advised to check flight status on our website or app and allow extra travel time due to slow road conditions. We appreciate your patience and understanding; your safety remains our top priority.”

Flight AI676 CCU-BOM: Diverted to Ahmedabad
Flight 6E5185 UDR-BOM: Diverted to Hyderabad
Flight 6E2189 BBI-BOM: Diverted to Surat
