A portion of an under-repair building in south Mumbai's Flora Fountain area collaopsed at around 7.45 pm on Wednesday evening. No casualties were reported.

According to fire brigade sources, the building, located close to Hutatma Chowk, was dilapidated and undergoing restoration.

Ismail building, which is a ground-plus 6 storey building in Mumbai Fort area, had already been issued a notice by the BMC for being in a dilapidated condition and prosecution was launched against the owners.

Residents had submitted proposal for the building's restoration. The building did not have any residents at the time.

A part of its upper floors collapsed on Wednesday night. The fire brigade and ward office staffers rushed to the spot.

"No one seems to be trapped inside as per initial assessment," said a statement issued by the BMC.
