Praveen Dixit named new Maharashtra DGP

Mumbai: Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau chief Praveen Dixit was tonight appointed the state's Director General of Police (DGP). Dixit, a 1977-batch IPS officer who was heading the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), replaces Sanjeev Dayal, who is retiring tomorrow, and will have a tenure of just over a year.
The state government also effected reshuffle at senior-level in the police administration. Senior officer Vijay Kamble, who headed the State Security Corporation till now, will replace Dixit as the new Director General of ACB, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, announced.
