Arun Govil and Sunil Lahiri, who played Lord Ram and Lakshman respectively in Ramanand Sagar's epic TV series Ramayan, have filed a police complaint claiming they haven't got possession of flats they had paid for seven years ago.
According to a report in <a href="http://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/crime/TVs-favourite-Ram-Lakshman-allege-two-builders-duped-them/articleshow/54534584.cms" target="_blank">Mumbai Mirror</a>, Govil and Lahiri, who became household names for portraying their respective roles in Ramayan, had invested Rs 2 crore each in an Oshiwara project, which they allege never took off.
The complaint claims Shri Shubh and Sonata Realty did not even start the construction of a high-rise in Oshiwara, although they collected nearly Rs 2 crore for a 2BHK apartment.
&ldquo;We invested in the project in 2009 and were told that the apartments would be handed over in 2013. It was supposed to be a 40-storey building next to Lokhandwala Complex. The project kept getting delayed, and the builders have absconded,&rdquo; the complaint, filed at the Oshiwara Police Station and also submitted to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), read.
Sources at Oshiwara Police Station informed <a href="http://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/crime/TVs-favourite-Ram-Lakshman-allege-two-builders-duped-them/articleshow/54534584.cms" target="_blank">Mumbai Mirror</a> that Sonata Realty is owned by a small-time filmmaker named Azam Khan, who was even arrested in a land transfer case. Shri Shubh Builders too are facing some allegations of wrongdoings.
"The Shri Shubh owner, Arpit Somani, is on the run while his father was arrested in a property related case," the police source informed Mumbai Mirror. The paper quoted Lahiri as saying that the builders "blatantly cheated" the investors. &ldquo;We would chase them for our flats and their staff would tell us the builders were holidaying abroad. Recently, we got some relief from the high court, which asked the court receiver to take possession of the plot. Arun Govil and I regret the decision to invest in this project," he said.
Govil's spokesperson told <a href="http://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/mumbai/crime/TVs-favourite-Ram-Lakshman-allege-two-builders-duped-them/articleshow/54534584.cms" target="_blank">Mumbai Mirror</a> that the actor was currently not in India, but confirmed that he has filed a police complaint.
