Residents of Santacruz East have finally now breathed a sigh of relief as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has floated a tender regarding the installation of a roof over the skywalk from the Western Express Highway to the junction of St Anthony’s Church, Vakola, along Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Road.

Locals, who have been in contact with the authorities over the past few months in connection with the issue, expect the work to start in October. They said the piece of infrastructure was proving useless during the summer and monsoon months, as pedestrians using it were exposed to the heat and rain.
