Second day in a row, city sees less than 500 cases

For the second consecutive day, Mumbai reported less than 500 fresh Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. While 453 fresh infections were reported, fatalities remained constant at 10. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) report, the city’s test positivity rate (TPR) saw a marginal improvement at 1.48 per cent on Tuesday. The TPR on Monday was 1.59 per cent.
After registering a TPR of more than 2 per cent on June 27, it has remained below 2 since then. The city reported the highest number of cases — 11,163 on April 4 and then the decline started. There has been a steady fall in the TPR since May 5, when it was 10.96 per cent. The doubling rate has improved and is currently 822 days.
