Seven held for manhandling policemen in Palghar

Seven people were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly abusing and manhandling personnel at the Manickpur police station in Palghar, police said. According to police, one Sahid Asif Khan, a resident of Vasai Koliwada, came to the police station last night to lodge a complaint against one Satish Shekar Page, who had allegedly beaten him up.

As the police officer on duty was talking to Khan, who was accompanied by his supporters, Page arrived at the police station along with a group of 20-25 men and started abusing police personnel present there, they said. The police tried to pacify Page and his supporters when the supporters of Khan attacked Page and his men, and also the police personnel, they said.

The supporters of Khan also damaged some furniture in the premises, police said. Police later arrested seven people for the incident and a search was on for others who were part of the irate mob, they added.
