The Shiv Sena (UBT) has raised concerns over time management, logistics, infrastructure, and operational feasibility in implementing the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ policy across the country.
Citing that during state elections, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and security personnel are often brought to Maharashtra from other states to ensure smooth polling, the party questioned how the Union government plans to manage the increased demand for these resources if simultaneous elections are held nationwide.
On Saturday, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Anil Parab met with the Parliament-appointed Joint Select Committee on simultaneous elections during its visit to Mumbai.

Speaking to mid-day after the meeting, Parab said, “Before adopting the One Nation, One Election policy, there needs to be clarity on the provisions made to arrange additional security forces and EVMs.”
Beyond logistics and infrastructure, Sena also expressed doubts regarding time management and other operational aspects. Highlighting delays even in single elections, Parab said, “Voting often continues beyond the scheduled time and sometimes goes on till late night. If voters have to cast ballots for both parliamentary and assembly seats simultaneously, the process will take longer, and polling may stretch into the night.”
In essence, the Sena believes that implementing simultaneous elections is practically unfeasible. “We have placed all our concerns before the committee,” Parab added.
The party also reiterated its demand for the use of traditional ballot papers instead of EVMs. However, committee members clarified that this issue was outside the scope of the panel’s mandate. The Joint Select Committee, headed by BJP MP P P Chaudhary, was in Mumbai on Saturday to meet stakeholders.
