Societies with 5-plus COVID-19 cases to be called micro containment zones, cops to be posted outside buildings

Visitors won’t be allowed in such buildings; Rs 10,000 penalty for first violation, Rs 20,000 for all next ones

In a new rule, BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal has said co-operative societies with five and more active COVID cases would be sealed and treated as ‘micro containment zones’. Further, to ensure that restrictions are followed, police personnel would be stationed outside such societies to monitor residents’ and visitors’ movements.
Violators would be fined Rs 10,000 in the first instance and Rs 20,000 for every subsequent violation.
