Phase I of Andheri-JVLR flyover project, to be opened by June 2026

Three major projects that will bring relief to thousands of motorists will see the light of day in 2026, not least of which is the much-awaited missing link project on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, bypassing the treacherous ghat section, which is expected to be opened by next May or June.

Lokhandwala-JVLR double-decker flyover

To ease traffic congestion and improve east-west connectivity between Andheri and Jogeshwari, the BMC had proposed a 5.08-km flyover linking New Link Road near Infiniti Mall in Andheri West with Poonam Nagar on the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road in Jogeshwari East.

The widening of the four-lane Thane-Vadpe stretch of the Old Mumbai-Nashik Highway (NH-3) into an eight-lane expressway is in progress, and this work is expected to be completed by March 2026 at an estimated cost of Rs 1182.87 crore. The upgraded 23-km stretch is expected to significantly ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and cut travel time.
