Preeti Anchan (22), an Air India employee who was stabbed by her jilted lover on Wednesday has gained consciousness, doctors say.
Anchan who was earlier working with a mobile phone dealer in Andheri is currently working with Air India as a ground staff, MIDC police confirmed.
"She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as she was unconscious. But she have now gained consciousness and is surviving on liquid diet," a doctor from the Holy Spirit hospital in Andheri said.
Anchan was stabbed on Wednesday morning after she refused to accept the proposal of Vijay Chauhan (25), with whom she was working at a mobile shop. It was supposed to be a one-sided love affair.
Chauhan had started liking Preeti when she used to work in his shop. However, Preeti was not interested in Chauhan, the police said. "She is working as a ground staff with Air India. We are yet to nab the culprit," said the official.
On Wednesday morning, Chauhan had a scuffle with the victim near her residence at Anand Prakash Suyogh Society and in a fit of rage stabbed her on the neck, chest and stomach with a knife.
The MIDC police station has registered a case of attempt to murder against Chauhan after recording the victim's complaint.
