Income Tax investigations into ex-Jharkand CM Madhu Koda's assets took a twist yesterday when the BJP levelled several allegations against the Congress government. Apart from accusing theu00a0 government of dealing with the case slowly, BJP's press secretary Dr Kirit Somaiya also alleged that Congress MP Kripashankar Singh had links with Koda. Singh, however, called the charges baseless and said, "I'll have to go through the allegations before I plan any legal action."

He alleged that Koda and his associates own shares of several companies, and that Balaji Bullions and Commodities, which was raided by IT, was linked to Koda's business empire. u00a0 "The government should make the findings of the raids public," said Somaiya. Manoj Punamiya, chairman of the Balaji Group of Companies, (which includes Balaji Bullions and Commodities), said nothing was found in the raids. "We are accused of having assets of more than Rs 1,000 crore, but the value of the items listed in the raids is not above Rs 65 lakh. It is accounted money," he said. Meanwhile, officials also raided the Nashik hotel and residence of businessman A Singh yesterday. Singh is said to have links to a prominent state politician.
