State govt seeks airlift of passengers stranded in Mahalaxmi Express

In an unprecedented measure, the Maharashtra government on Saturday requested the defence officials to arrange airlift of passengers of a train stuck on tracks near Mumbai since Friday night.
More than 200 National Disaster Response Force personnel, besides Indian Navy troops, have rushed to Badlapur near Mumbai, where Mahalaxmi Express is stranded with about 1,000 passengers after heavy rains flooded the tracks, officials said.
