400 elite anti-Naxal Bihar Military Police personnel to be deployed during the Assembly elections

Four hundred personnel from five companies of Bihar's elite anti-Naxal force, the Bihar Military Police (BMP) led by Commandant Ajay Kumar Mishra, are to arrive in Mumbai on October 1 to bolster the security arrangements during the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

The BMP's movement follows a decision made last month at a joint meeting of senior officials of the Election Commission (EC) and the Union Home Ministry in New Delhi, where director generals of police (DGP) of all states, including Maharashtra, were present.

DGP Bihar Anand Shankar said he was not concerned with the anti-North Indian stance taken by regional political parties. "It's the Home Ministry's decision.
