Traffic on the north-bound lane of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar flyover near Matunga came to a standstill at 12.30 am today after a multi-axel vehicle entered the wrong lane and got stuck under a gantry that prevents vehicles beyond a certain height from entering the lane.

The trailer truck going towards Sion after exiting the King’s Circle flyover entered the extreme right lane meant for small vehicles and immediately got stuck in the iron gantry. Following the incident, a traffic jam was seen for half a kilometre.

The traffic police quickly reached the spot and saw that the iron gantry had bent from the impact. A traffic police officer present at the spot said, "The truck driver entered the wrong lane by mistake and got stuck in the gantry. With the help of a forklift vehicle, the gantry was lifted and the truck driver then reversed the truck."

The traffic jam that went on till 1.10 am had been causing tempers to rise and cops had to clear the jam quickly.
