Supporters of MLAs Jitendra Awhad, Gopichand Padalkar clash in Maharashtra legislature premises
On Thursday, a clash broke out inside the Vidhan Bhavan premises on Thursday evening as supporters of Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Jitendra Awhad and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Gopichand Padalkar reportedly assaulted each other.
Security personnel intervened and stopped the clash between the two groups. The issue was immediately brought to the notice of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, who has ordered an inquiry into the incident and assured that appropriate action will be taken against those responsible.
The incident comes a day after both the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) had a heated argument outside the Vidhan Bhavan gates, allegedly after Padalkar slammed his car door on Awhad.
Following the incident, Awhad, along with senior NCP (SP) MLA Jayant Patil and Nitin Deshmukh — one of Awhad's supporters involved in the clash — met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan.
