With concerns mounting over rising dropout rates in Marathi schools, nearly 200 teachers plan to protest against the state’s new teacher allotment policy at Azad Maidan on March 10. The group represents educators who have cleared key examinations such as TET, TAIT, and CTET but remain without employment.

Schools at risk

Representatives from the Shiv Unity Foundation say the new policy leaves schools with fewer than 20 students without any teacher allotment. For Std IX and X, this can mean a single teacher is forced to cover all subjects alone, putting learning at risk.

Educators demand

Balusha Mane, a professor and advocate with the group, warned, “If such policies persist, students may drop out or be exposed to social evils. Marathi schools must be preserved with policies that encourageenrollment.”
