The Thane unit of the Anti-Terrorism Squad is fighting the good fight against ISIS. In the wake of a recent 22-minute ISIS video, which featured two city youths, Fahad Shaikh and Aman Tandel, the unit conducted a program at Mira Road to create awareness among youngsters about the extremist ideology of the militant group.

It was conducted on Friday. More than 500 people including Muslim scholars, advocates and local leaders, were present at the program where the ATS officials and community leaders spoke against the extremist group.
A senior officer from Thane ATS said, &ldquo;The extremist group is mostly using the social networking sites to attract youths. Instead of arresting innocents who have been radicalised, we have started awareness programs in the minority areas to take a step to work with the locals. It will help decrease the gap between the police and public and also create awareness among the youngsters.&rdquo;
The officer added, &ldquo;Also, if any suspicious movement is detected, we can stop the youths from being radicalised. We have also asked the Muslim scholars to make announcements and speeches against ISIS during the Friday prayers.&rdquo;
Dr Azimuddin Sayed, President of Movement Human Welfare of Maharashtra said, &ldquo;The video and ideology created by the extremist group is destroying the image of Islam. We are fighting and creating awareness programs to change it. Islam is a religion of peace and never allows anyone to kill. ISIS does not represent Islam.&rdquo;
Families say The family is not concerned about the video; they don&rsquo;t even want to see it. They have already forgotten about their kids. But, we will always support the [investigating] agencies to create awareness among the masses that ISIS is fake and does not represent Islam.
