A portion of the plaster and false <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-plaster-and-ceiling-fan-collapse-in-mumbra-chawl-injures-32-year-old-man-toddler-23625352" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ceiling collapsed</a> inside a residential flat in Rabodi, Thane, in the early hours of Wednesday, prompting authorities to evacuate the occupants as a precaution.&nbsp;
No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Disaster Management Cell, the incident was reported at 1:04 am at Flat No. 302 in C-Wing of Sai Deep Complex, located near the Senior Citizens' Corner and Kalavati Aai Temple in Rabodi No. 2, Thane West.
Officials said the plaster and Plaster of Paris (POP) false ceiling in the hall of the third-floor flat suddenly gave way. The building is a ground-plus-four-storey residential structure, approximately 30 years old.
Soon after the incident, teams from the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-rains-firefighter-injured-during-tree-removal-work-after-tree-falls-on-building-premises-23638445" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Thane Fire Brigade</a>, along with personnel from the Disaster Management Cell and the Uthalsar Ward Committee, rushed to the spot with a fire engine, rescue vehicle and utility vehicle to assess the situation.
Acting on the instructions of Uthalsar Ward Committee Sub-Engineer Nitin Pradhan, officials evacuated the affected flat and sealed off the area with safety barricades to prevent any further risk.
The five residents of the flat have been temporarily shifted to their relatives' homes, while the Building Department of the Uthalsar Ward Committee will carry out a detailed structural inspection and decide on further action.
Sai Deep Complex's C-Wing houses 16 flats across five levels (ground plus four floors) and is home to around 60 residents. The incident was reported by the Rustamji Fire Station.
<h2>Three hurt as first floor of Wadala building caves in</h2>
Three people sustained minor injuries after the first floor of a ground-plus-one (G plus 1) <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mankhurd-chawl-collapse-two-held-after-six-die-as-three-storey-structure-falls-on-hut-amid-heavy-rains-in-mumbai-23638501" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">structure collapsed</a> onto a medical store in Wadala East on Tuesday, officials said.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident was reported at 11:32 pm near Samrat Medical, located behind Vidyalankar College in Shanti Nagar, Wadala East.
Officials said the first floor of the structure gave way and collapsed onto the medical shop below. Before the Mumbai Fire Brigade reached the spot, local residents shifted the injured to a nearby private hospital in a private vehicle.
The injured have been identified as Khushabu Khan (27), who suffered a minor head injury, Ashish Singh (40), who sustained an injury to his left hand, and Sunil Yadav (30), who suffered a minor injury to his right leg.
All three were treated at Deepansh Clinic and were discharged after receiving medical attention.
Following the incident, teams from the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-fire-brigade-how-first-responders-handle-hundreds-of-monsoon-emergencies-23638551" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Mumbai Fire Brigade</a>, Mumbai Police, 108 Ambulance Service, and BMC ward staff rushed to the site to assess the situation and carry out necessary safety measures.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse.
