The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced that water supply will remain suspended for 24 hours in parts of Uthalsar and Naupada wards on November 10 owing to the ongoing construction work of a new water tank at the Siddheshwar water reservoir.

According to the Thane civic body, the main 600 mm-diameter pipeline supplying water to the Kolbad area will be affected by this work and needs to be relocated. The shifting of this pipeline will be carried out on November 10 from 9 am for a 24-hour period. During this period, water supply in several areas will be completely shut.

The affected areas include Siddheshwar Talav, Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar, Ganesh Wadi, Nitin Company, Pachpakhadi, Hans Nagar, Sing Nagar, Khopat, Flower Valley, Shelar Pada, Gokuldas Wadi, Kolbad, Gokul Nagar, as well as parts of the Naupada ward such as Pachpakhadi, Chandanwadi, the municipal headquarters area, Charai, and Dhobi Ali.

After the restoration of water supply on the morning of November 11, residents may experience low water pressure for the next one to two days.

TMC has appealed to citizens to use water judiciously and cooperate during this shutdown period.

Thane civic body begins drive to recover Rs 250 crore in pending water bills

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has launched a major drive to recover unpaid water bills amounting to around Rs 250 crore, said officials.

Of the total dues, Rs 92.28 crore are pending arrears, while Rs 157.8 crore pertain to the current financial year. Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao has instructed the water supply department to ensure 100 per cent recovery within this fiscal.

Since April, the Thane civic body has already recovered Rs 43 crore, about 18 per cent of the total amount, under the ongoing campaign.

As part of the recovery efforts, the civic corporation has begun disconnecting water connections, seizing motor pumps, and sealing meter rooms across all wards.

Officials warned that users who reconnect their supply without clearing dues will face legal action.
